Asphalt Testing Solutions & Engineering Helps Boy Scout Complete His Eagle Project

Asphalt Testing Solutions & Engineering (ATS) Asphalt Roadway Specialist Tracy Moore met high school student and Eagle Scout hopeful Andrew Perrin early this summer.  For his Eagle Project, he wanted to clean up his church’s parking lot, fill its potholes and repaint the striping.  He had been asking around to price out the cost of asphalt and was looking at $2000 – $3000 to complete the project.  Tracy told Andrew she might be able to help him with his project, and she reached out to Duval Asphalt’s Director of Field Operations, Allen Shirley.

Without hesitation Allen scheduled one of his paving crews to help Andrew at the church.  Foreman Tim Woods, three of his crew members Donnie Hadden, David Hoskins and Walter Sims, ATS Asphalt Roadway Specialist Tyler Schimp and Tracy donated their time to meet Andrew and get to work filling potholes.  “I’m so grateful Duval Asphalt and Miss Tracy could help me,” Andrew mentioned.  “Eagle Scout is the highest level to achieve in the Boy Scouts, and you have to complete an Eagle Project.  I had to submit my project to the board and a member of City Council for approval.”

Now that the potholes are filled, Andrew will finish the striping and work on the landscaping around the lot.  Once complete he will submit a report and pictures of his Eagle Project to achieve Eagle Scout Rank.
