ATS High School Interns Earn CTQP Asphalt Plant Level 1 Certifications

Congratulations to our two summer interns, Phoenix and Reed, who recently passed their CTQP Aspahlt Plant Level 1 exams and are officially Asphalt Plant Level 1 certified!

What makes this accomplishment even more impressive? They’re still in high school!

Through their summer internships with ATS, they worked alongside ATS QC professionals, which provided mentorship, guidance, and a firsthand look at what it’s like to be part of a team in the asphalt industry. Reed and Phoenix gained hands-on experience in the lab and learned the testing methods that help ensure asphalt mixtures meet FDOT specifications. Now, they’ve taken that experience one step further by earning a certification that prepares them to work in an FDOT-qualified asphalt quality control lab.

The CTQP Plant Level 1 certification requires both a written exam and a proficiency exam demonstrating practical skills. The certification covers asphalt testing methods and helps ensure test results are reliable and accurate, which is a vital part of quality control, dispute resolution, and building long-lasting asphalt pavements.
